Art Fairs in January 2027: Six Fairs from Uruguay to Singapore

January begins on Uruguay’s Atlantic coast and ends with a much busier international weekend. ESTE ARTE and MART Punta offer a focused regional experience early in the month. Later, London, Singapore, Paris, and Brussels present different types of fairs, with several dates overlapping. A practical calendar should clarify these options rather than suggest all six belong in a single itinerary.

The table below uses public visiting dates and lists previews separately. Each fair name links to its full ArtExpoWorld page. This is a selection of six events with contrasting formats and geographic settings, not a comprehensive overview of the international market or a ranking of the artists involved.

ESTE ARTE: One Artist, a More Focused Presentation

Art Fairs in January 2027: Uruguay, London, Asia & Europe

The thirteenth edition of ESTE ARTE showcases artists through gallery-led solo exhibitions at Pavilion VIK, Ruta 10, kilometre 182.5, in José Ignacio. Public hours are 17:00–22:00 on 6–8 January. The published USD 35 advance ticket price rises to USD 40 from 6 January and covers all three public days. The concentrated format encourages visitors to return: several works can reveal an artist’s practice more clearly than a single image. The full guide details the participating galleries and the language-specific walkthrough program.

MART Punta: A Different Approach to the Artist

Art Fairs in January 2027: Uruguay, London, Asia & Europe

MART Punta takes place 7–9 January at Punta del Este’s Convention & Exhibition Center. Its direct-artist format offers a meaningful contrast to ESTE ARTE’s gallery-led structure. The two fairs overlap on 7–8 January, but the venues are distinct destinations. Plan the transfer during the day rather than treating José Ignacio and the convention center as one location. The more valuable comparison is how an artist presents a body of work directly versus how a gallery constructs that narrative through its selection.

London Art Fair: A January Benchmark

Art Fairs in January 2027: Uruguay, London, Asia & Europe

London Art Fair returns to the Business Design Centre in Islington for public visiting from 20–24 January, following a preview on 19 January. The address is 52 Upper Street, London N1 0QH. For visitors interested in the relationship between modern and contemporary art, the fair offers a different context from programs focused solely on recent production. Plan according to the published daily schedule rather than assuming uniform hours throughout. Its final weekend coincides with several other fairs in this calendar, making the choice of destination especially important.

ART SG: Focusing an Asian Visit

Art Fairs in January 2027: Uruguay, London, Asia & Europe

ART SG’s public dates are 22–24 January at Marina Bay Sands, with a VIP preview on 21 January. The Singapore location makes it a major reference point for an early-year visit focused on Asian gallery networks and their international connections. A productive approach is to identify galleries whose programs are new to you alongside more familiar names. The individual fair page should provide detailed admission and venue information. Do not plan a public visit around the preview simply because it appears first in the event’s full date range.

art3f Paris: Direct Encounters on a Different Scale

Art Fairs in January 2027: Uruguay, London, Asia & Europe

The Paris edition runs 22–24 January at Porte de Versailles, Pavilion 5.2. Friday’s hours are 13:00–21:00, followed by 10:00–19:00 on Saturday and Sunday. Its artist-and-gallery format offers a different experience from fairs where every presentation is mediated by a traditional gallery stand. Consider how an individual work fits into a broader practice and what can be learned from the accompanying selection. The Paris dates overlap with Singapore and London, so it is best seen as a destination choice rather than an additional nearby stop.

BRAFA: Pay Close Attention to the Dates

Art Fairs in January 2027: Uruguay, London, Asia & Europe

BRAFA’s public program begins on 24 January at Brussels Expo, pauses for an invitation-only day on Monday 25 January, and resumes from 26–31 January. The Collectors Preview on 22 January and Exclusive Day on 23 January have separate access conditions. Across its different periods and collecting fields, the fair encourages comparison between objects that are not all contemporary. This breadth becomes rewarding when visitors closely examine material, use, and provenance rather than treating historical objects as mere decorative contrasts to newer art.

Two Useful Ways to Plan the Month

For an early January visit, Uruguay offers the clearest geographic pairing in this selection. The two fairs have overlapping dates and different ways of presenting artists. Choose accommodation and transport based on both actual venues. ESTE ARTE’s evening hours provide flexibility, but do not assume MART’s schedule; check each event separately before planning a combined day.

For later in the month, select a primary destination first. London, Singapore, and Paris overlap on 22–24 January, while Brussels begins its public program on the 24th. Paris and Brussels can form a European itinerary with time for transfers, provided the invitation-only Monday at BRAFA is respected. Singapore is a separate long-distance decision, not a natural extension of a European weekend.

Readers comparing the next phase of the season can continue with our January–March 2027 art fair selection. It places the January choices in a broader sequence of fairs without replacing the individual event pages. Use the calendar to select dates, then the detailed fair guide to request admission through that page’s enquiry form.

What to Check Before Arranging Admission

Specify whether you want a public day, a preview, or another special opening. These are distinct conditions even when under the same event name. Where a 2027 price or session has not been announced, the appropriate response is to obtain current information rather than rely on last year’s rates. Keep the chosen day clear in every enquiry.

For a multi-fair trip, compare presentation formats as well as dates. A direct conversation with an artist and a gallery’s solo presentation can illuminate the same practice in different ways. A broad historical fair requires a different set of questions. Selecting these differences in advance results in a more coherent visit than simply collecting the largest number of entries.

Editor’s Note

The January calendar is especially interesting because it does not describe a single model of fair. Uruguay’s coastal pairing brings the direct-artist encounter into dialogue with the gallery’s concentrated selection. Later in the month, the international circuit becomes more geographically spread out and demands more from visitors’ choices.

We resist reading these differences as a hierarchy of importance. The sharper question is what each format reveals. A solo stand can show continuity within a practice; a conversation with the artist can expose uncertainty in its development; a fair spanning historical periods can make the changing uses of an image or material more apparent.

Our strongest recommendation is to allow one regional visit enough time to become meaningful. Uruguay offers an unusually clear early-month comparison, while the later dates let readers choose an Asian or European focus. A good itinerary should leave you able to explain why a work mattered, not just where you saw it.
