ART SG returns to Marina Bay Sands on 22–24 January 2027, with a separate preview and vernissage on 21 January. Its fifth edition brings an international gallery fair into conversation with Southeast Asian practices, alongside the return of S.E.A. Focus. Singapore becomes a place to encounter several art worlds at once, without assuming that they speak with one voice.

The interesting question is what changes when the regional perspective leads. A work familiar from an international gallery can acquire different neighbours; an artist less visible on European circuits can occupy the centre of the conversation. That shift is a reason to travel, not just another addition to the calendar.

GALLERIES, FOCUS and FUTURES provide the fair's main gallery structure. They organize different kinds of presentation, from broader programs to more concentrated positions. A visitor can move between them to see how the scale of a presentation changes the attention an artist receives.

S.E.A. Focus returns alongside ART SG with Better Worlds, curated by John Tung. The announced theme examines life in an increasingly connected world, including the effects of technology and exchange. This is a specific curatorial thread within the wider event, rather than a label to attach to every work in the hall.

The combination is promising because international visibility can sometimes flatten differences. Two artists from neighboring countries may have little in common in their materials, references, or working conditions. A good presentation makes those distinctions legible. Our ART SG 2026 coverage offers a record of the earlier edition; the 2027 selection will establish how the fair's conversation has developed.

ART SG 2027 Event Overview

ART SG 2027: Dates, Tickets & Visitor Guide

Dates:

22 January 2027 - 24 January 2027

Location:

Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre, 10 Bayfront Avenue, Singapore 018956.

Mission:

ART SG connects contemporary art from Southeast Asia and the wider international gallery scene. Its fair format encourages cross-border discovery and conversations between galleries, artists and visitors with different collecting interests.

Organizer:

ART SG, organised by The Art Assembly.

Why attend to ART SG 2027?

ART SG suits a visitor who wants to examine Southeast Asian art within the same space as international gallery programmes. The comparison can work in both directions. Regional work gains a wider field of reference, while familiar international names are seen through a different set of relationships.

The fair is also relevant to readers interested in how a gallery supports an artist over time. Ask which exhibitions led to the current presentation and how the works belong to a larger practice. This moves the discussion beyond nationality or a striking image. For a collector, it can reveal the depth behind a discovery; for any visitor, it helps an unfamiliar work become more than an isolated encounter.

Ticket Information

General admission costs

Check the current 2027 price and the conditions of the chosen pass. Public-day admission and opening-day access are different categories. A regular public ticket should not be assumed to include the preview or vernissage on 21 January.

Getting There:

Bayfront MRT is the practical public transport reference point for Marina Bay Sands; the visitor information identifies Exit E. Follow signs for the Expo and Convention Centre rather than assuming every entrance to the wider complex leads directly to the fair.

Accommodation

Compare the complete route to the convention centre when choosing accommodation. A convenient MRT connection may be more useful than proximity to another part of the Marina Bay complex. Keep travel time separate from gallery meetings and timed activities.

January planning should leave room for the difference between viewing and appointments. A meeting with one gallery can use a substantial part of a shorter fair session, especially when several works are under discussion. Arrange the most important conversation first, then build the rest of the visit around it. Visitors concentrating on discovery can use a less appointment-driven route, with breaks between sections and a final return to the strongest presentations.

History & Context of a ART SG 2027

ART SG began in 2023 and belongs to The Art Assembly's Asia-Pacific network. By 2027, its fifth edition offers an opportunity to assess how a relatively young fair develops a distinct identity while working within an international circuit.

Singapore's fairs serve different audiences. The archived Affordable Art Fair Singapore 2025 article records another approach to contemporary collecting in the city. It is a useful comparison of formats, rather than an alternative timetable for the coming January. Neither event can stand in for Singapore's entire art scene; each selects a particular way of encountering it.

Tips for Visitors of ART SG 2027

Allow moving-image work enough time to establish its rhythm. A brief glance that might register the structure of a painting can miss the premise of a film. Likewise, view an installation from more than one allowed position: scale and spatial relationships are part of its meaning.

If a presentation interests you, ask for the artist's name, the work's full details, and a reference for later reading. A photograph alone rarely preserves the reasons a work mattered in the room. For editioned or digital work, clarify what is included, how it is displayed, and what documentation accompanies it. These questions belong to the work itself and can be discussed without assuming that a purchase will follow.

Tips from the ArtExpoWorld

Begin with a section or artist you know least well, then revisit a familiar presentation. The reversal can be revealing. It lets the fair's regional conversations shape your reading of established names, instead of using established names as the measure of everything else.

Editor’s Note

For us, ART SG's strongest proposition is that Southeast Asia can set the terms of an international art encounter. We are less interested in treating Singapore as a convenient stop between other fairs than in seeing which artistic relationships become visible here and nowhere else in quite the same way.

Better Worlds gives the coming edition a question worth testing: does greater connection deepen understanding, or simply increase circulation? We will look for presentations that make the difference tangible. That also underpins our view of collecting art with purpose: a collection becomes more interesting when an encounter changes what its owner understands, rather than merely adding another internationally familiar name.
