Art Dubai returns to Madinat Jumeirah with public days on 9–11 April 2027 and previews on 7–8 April. Its announced structure connects contemporary galleries with modern art, digital practices, and projects extending beyond the conventional stand. The Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia provide essential points of reference for the programme.

The appeal is the possibility of a different map of modern and contemporary art. Movements often discussed separately can meet through the artists, galleries, and histories presented here. Dubai is the setting for that exchange; the works themselves must give it substance.

Five sections are announced: Art Dubai Galleries, Zamaniyyat, Bawwaba, Art Dubai Digital and Art Dubai Extended. They address different challenges of presentation rather than simply dividing the hall by medium. A historical dialogue and a newly produced solo project can demand quite different things from a visitor.

Bawwaba, curated by Amal Khalaf, focuses on new work in solo presentations. Zamaniyyat, curated by Dr. Sarah A. Rifky, reconsiders modernism across regions. Nadine Khalil and Ulrich Schrauth curate the digital section, while Alexie Glass-Kantor leads Extended. The latter provides space for work whose scale, duration, or relationship to a site does not fit an ordinary booth.

These frameworks give the 2027 edition a clear set of intentions before the final works are known. They also create a useful editorial test: can the sections change how visitors interpret the art, rather than merely giving familiar categories new names? The answer will emerge through the presentations and the connections made between them.

Art Dubai 2027: Dates, Tickets & Visitor Guide

Dates:

9 April 2027 - 11 April 2027

Location:

Madinat Jumeirah, Jumeirah Beach Road, Al Sufouh 1, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Art Dubai brings regional art histories and current practices into an international gallery setting. Its different sections make space for historical research, new production and forms of art that need something other than a conventional display. The platform places particular emphasis on artistic relationships across regions.

Organizer:

Art Dubai, part of Art Dubai Group.

Why attend to Art Dubai 2027?

The fair is particularly interesting for readers who want modern art history to extend beyond its most familiar Western accounts. Zamaniyyat provides a route into that question, while Bawwaba can bring the discussion into the present through an individual artist's new work. The difference in time scale should make the movement between sections productive.

Digital work introduces another set of questions. An image on a screen may look immediately accessible while depending on software, equipment or a changing technical environment. The artistic idea and the conditions that sustain it both deserve attention. A visitor interested in collecting can ask how the work exists, what is being acquired and how its display will continue over time.

Ticket Information

General admission costs

The 2027 admission tariff is not listed here because it has not been confirmed for this guide. Select admission for the correct public day and treat preview accreditation as a separate category. A public ticket should not be assumed to include private events or independently booked activities.

Getting There:

Use Madinat Jumeirah as the destination and follow the fair's entrance instructions when they are released. The resort contains several arrival points; a general hotel drop-off may not be the entrance required for the event. Allow a separate journey for meetings elsewhere in Dubai rather than treating them as extensions of a hall visit.

Accommodation

A stay near Madinat Jumeirah can simplify repeated fair visits. A wider Dubai itinerary may favour a different base, so compare the actual routes to all your planned appointments. Leave enough flexibility for the final public timetable and separately scheduled programmes before fixing every part of the trip.

History & Context of a Art Dubai 2027

Art Dubai has developed a regional identity within a global fair circuit. Its combination of historical, contemporary, and technological interests matters because those fields are often treated as separate conversations. The 2027 section structure makes their proximity a deliberate part of the event's proposition.

Our archived Art Dubai 2026 article provides an earlier point of reference. It should be read as a record of that edition, rather than evidence for the upcoming gallery list. A fair can retain its identity while changing its curatorial emphasis; the announced 2027 sections deserve to be considered on their own terms.

Tips for Visitors of Art Dubai 2027

For a digital presentation, allow time for a full cycle if the work has one. Ask whether a screen is the work's intended format or a way of presenting something that will exist differently elsewhere. Installation, ownership, and the viewer's experience can be closely connected.

For a historical work, ask which part of the artist's career is represented and what context the gallery provides. For new production, ask how the individual object belongs to the wider project. Our 10 questions to ask before buying art can help structure those conversations without reducing every encounter to a sales decision.

Tips from the ArtExpoWorld

Build one comparison across sections: a modern work and a new solo project, for example. The point is to see whether a relationship becomes visible that a conventional chronological display might obscure. A convincing connection should survive a closer look at both works.

Editor’s Note

We consider Art Dubai most compelling when its geography changes the art history being told. Bringing a recognised international name to another city is relatively straightforward; making different artistic relationships visible is the harder and more valuable task. The announced combination of Zamaniyyat and Bawwaba gives the 2027 edition a serious basis for attempting it.

We also welcome digital art being considered beside other practices, provided the discussion reaches beyond the novelty of its tools. That is where the fair could earn its place in a wider itinerary alongside ART SG 2027: two events whose regional positions should produce distinct arguments, rather than interchangeable international programmes. For us, that difference is the reason to follow both.
