ARCO2046 is developed across two spaces. João Mourão and Luis Silva curate one; Max Andrews and Mariana Cánepa Luna, working as Latitudes, curate the other. The parallel structure gives the central proposition more than one voice, which should make agreement and difference part of the experience.
The General Programme is joined by Opening. New Galleries, curated by Rafa Barber Cortell and Bernardo Mosqueira, for galleries with fewer than eight years of history. Profiles | Latin American Art, led by José Esparza Chong Cuy and Marielsa Castro Vizcarra, continues the fair's longstanding relationship with the region.
These strands offer different ways to read the event. A young gallery's concentrated proposal can sit beside a broader institutional or historical conversation. The most revealing route may move between them, asking how the same question changes with the scale and experience of its presenter.
Two curatorial spaces can also make the idea of a future plural. A proposal may begin with material conditions, another with the organisation of images or the role of institutions. Those are possible questions to bring to ARCO2046, rather than descriptions of works not yet announced. Look for what each space chooses to make concrete. Where one leaves a difficulty unresolved, the other may reveal why it matters. This gives the visitor an active position between the proposals, with room to question both instead of having to endorse a single, apparently authoritative account of the coming decades.
