A Chilean art fair becomes interesting when Chile stops looking like a single landscape. Practices developed in a desert city, a coastal community, and the capital carry different relationships to materials and memory. Ch.ACO’s seventeenth edition returns to Metropolitan Santiago on 17–21 March 2027, with the published visitor hours covering 18–21 March.

The distinction between the full edition period and ordinary visiting days matters. The organiser announces five dates overall but currently gives four days of public opening hours. For most visitors, the useful starting point is Thursday 18 March. The following days offer time to investigate gallery presentations and the separately curated Art Projects programme.

Laura Ibáñez Kuzmanic is announced as curator of Art Projects for Ch.ACO 17. Her published introduction considers artistic production across Chile’s different territories and the relationships between individual practices, collective work, and institutions. This provides a specific reason to follow the section: the geography should emerge through what artists create, rather than serve as a scenic background.

The complete 2027 exhibitor roster and total remain forthcoming on the edition’s gallery page. The preceding edition’s official recap records more than 50 exhibitors from eleven countries and over 20,000 visitors. These are 2026 figures, useful for historical scale but insufficient to predict the next selection. The new list will establish which galleries and artists can actually be encountered in March.

Art Projects and the gallery presentations should be read together without being treated as identical selection models. A collective or independent space may frame a practice differently from a commercial gallery. Notice what each presentation considers necessary to explain: a particular place, a method of working, or a relationship between artists whose work develops in conversation.

Ch.ACO 2027 Event Overview

Ch.ACO 2027: Dates, Tickets & Visitor Guide

Dates:

28 October 2026 - 28 October 2026

Location:

Metropolitan Santiago Convention & Event Center, Avenida San Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer 5600, Vitacura, Santiago, Chile. The venue also uses the Costanera Sur description. Keep the street number and venue name together when arranging arrival; the fair is outside the central museum district.

Mission:

Ch.ACO, short for Chile Arte Contemporáneo, supports the visibility and circulation of contemporary art through its fair and broader cultural activities. The most significant version of this mission provides Chilean practices with enough context to participate in an international conversation on their own terms. A national label becomes meaningful when the differences within it remain visible.

Organizer:

Ch.ACO and its organising team, working with the announced curatorial programme and participating spaces. The fair’s main venue is Metropolitan. An associated city activity should be checked separately for its address, timing and admission conditions.

Why attend to Ch.ACO 2027?

The strongest opportunity is to examine a contemporary scene through the structures that support it. A gallery can provide continuity for a practice through exhibitions and research; an independent project may reveal a different relationship to community or place. Seeing both makes it possible to ask how an artist’s work becomes visible and what changes in that process.

The evening opening hours also allow for a less rushed visit. Spend time with a few presentations, compare them, then return to the work that resisted an easy explanation. Contemporary art can describe a place indirectly, through the construction of an image or the treatment of a material, and those decisions require more than a quick circuit of the stands.

Ticket Information

General admission costs

The organiser says tickets will become available from February 2027. A verified price range and complete concession or opening-day conditions are not yet published on the checked edition page. Use the enquiry form on this page for the appropriate visiting day and admission category. A previous ticket tariff is not a confirmed 2027 price.

Getting There:

Plan the approach to Vitacura using Metropolitan’s full address. Compare the actual final transfer from your accommodation rather than assume a central Santiago location places every cultural destination within walking distance. Keep a separate allowance for a timed conversation or an appointment at the fair.

The wider South American sequence continues with Pinta Lima 2027 on 22–25 April. It offers another gallery-led encounter, in a different national and urban context. These are separate journeys a month apart; their useful connection lies in following practices and regional relationships beyond a single fair.

Accommodation

A base convenient for Vitacura can simplify repeated fair visits. Readers planning several days around museums and galleries elsewhere should compare the full itinerary before choosing. Hotel recommendations left over from Ch.ACO 16 do not automatically establish official partnerships for the new edition.

Ask about the actual entrance, seating, and step-free route if these affect the visit. Exhibition access and transport access are separate questions. The simplest day is usually built around one main destination, with time to remain longer when a work or discussion proves especially rewarding.

History & Context of a Ch.ACO 2027

The fair began in 2009 and has evolved through various Santiago venues. Our corrected Ch.ACO 2025 archive includes records from the earlier GAM edition. The organiser’s 2026 retrospective documents the subsequent move to Metropolitan, where the 2027 fair is also announced. Following these locations provides a clearer history than assuming the event has always taken place at a single venue.

What Has Changed Since 2026

The announced dates shift from 25–29 March 2026 to 17–21 March 2027. Metropolitan remains the named venue, while Ibáñez’s Art Projects direction gives the new edition a defined curatorial focus. The final galleries, works, and activity schedule will reveal further changes; earlier exhibitor and visitor totals should remain linked to their actual year.

Interesting Fact

Ch.ACO’s first edition in 2009 featured a deliberately disarming motto: «No entender es un buen comienzo.» Not understanding was presented as a beginning. This is an unusually useful proposition for an art fair, where the pressure to form an immediate opinion can make unfamiliar work seem like a problem to be solved quickly.

The phrase suggests another way of visiting. Start by describing what you can actually see, then ask what remains uncertain. A puzzling material choice or an image that resists a familiar interpretation can sustain a better conversation than a quick declaration of liking or disliking. Curiosity becomes a practical tool for looking.

Tips for Visitors of Ch.ACO 2027

Keep the name of the artist, work and presenting space together. Ask how a piece belongs to a longer practice and whether there is an exhibition, text or publication through which to continue. Before photographing a work or recording a discussion, check the relevant permissions.

Tips from the ArtExpoWorld

Our Latin American art fairs in the first half of 2027 calendar places Santiago within the season alongside Uruguay, Mexico, Brazil and Peru. Use the comparison to choose a regional question, then give each city enough time to complicate it. Chile’s practices deserve a more exact reading than an interchangeable continental stop.

Editor’s Note

Ch.ACO is most convincing when it allows the scale of the country to enter the exhibition through specific artistic choices. Material collected in one region or a collaborative method developed in another can carry a history that a general statement about Chile cannot explain. The announced Art Projects direction gives this question a substantive place within the fair.

We would evaluate the relationship between projects and galleries by how much each helps the other become more comprehensible. Independent activity should retain its tensions and working conditions when introduced into a commercial setting. Likewise, a gallery presentation can contain serious research that deserves more attention than a simple distinction between market and experiment permits.

Santiago deserves a deliberate place in a South American itinerary for this possibility of a more precise encounter. The fair’s scale matters less than the strength of the proposals it brings together. We would allow room for one practice to alter the course of the visit, especially when it unsettles the picture of Chilean art with which the visitor arrived.
