Spraoi International Street Arts Festival 2026 animated Waterford from 31 July to 2 August. Street theatre, music, and a night-time parade transformed the city’s public spaces into places to stop, watch, and participate. The festival’s outdoor setting allowed audiences to encounter performances within Waterford’s historic cityscape. The 2026 retrospective featured 44 acts from Ireland and other countries, combining various forms of street performance and music.
On Sunday, 2 August, Howl brought costumed performers, floats, fire, light, and music through the city’s streets and quays. This locally produced spectacle was a central shared moment of the weekend.
The first Spraoi Heineken Weekender created an official music stage on O’Connell Street. Its three-day programme provided another route through the festival, alongside the street arts performances.
Waterford’s streets become a stage for performance, music and spectacle.
Spraoi International Street Arts Festival 2026
Waterford’s streets become a stage for performance, music and spectacle
31 July 2026 - 2 August 2026
Streets, squares and quays of Waterford city centre, Ireland; individual performance locations varied
Mission:
To bring international street arts and locally created spectacles into shared public spaces.
Organizer:
Spraoi, Waterford; director T. V. Honan
A performance in a square or on a quay can change how familiar space is experienced. Spraoi brought audiences, performers and volunteers together around work encountered at walking pace, with the parade creating a collective finale.
The summer festival’s street performances and music programme were presented free to audiences. Separate Spraoi events at other times of the year, such as Wicked Woods, had their own ticketing and should not be confused with the July–August festival.
The performance locations were in Waterford city centre, rather than at Spraoi Studios. Use the edition’s performance map and parade route to choose an arrival point. Allow extra time around large crowds and temporary road arrangements, especially on the parade evening.

Spraoi has presented its parade and street-arts celebration since 1993. The festival combines an international programme with the work of its own production team and volunteers. The 2026 edition continued that relationship between visiting performers and locally made spectacle.
Choose a few priority performances and allow time between them. Outdoor work can gather a crowd quickly, so arrive before the advertised start. Check sightlines, weather and access arrangements for each location; a short route can work better for families than trying to cover every stage.
This page records the summer festival. Other Spraoi productions have separate dates and admission arrangements.
