Juxtapose 2025 brought artist-run projects together in Aarhus from 13 to 15 June. Godsbanen’s Rå Hal formed the central meeting place, while independent spaces contributed exhibitions and events around the city. The 2025 programme brought together 22 exhibiting initiatives at Godsbanen, alongside satellite presentations. Their different working methods mattered as much as the individual objects on display: visitors could encounter self-organised spaces, publishing projects and collaborative approaches to making exhibitions.
The earlier Platform and Off-Site divisions were dissolved. Local spaces could exhibit at Godsbanen, use their own venues or contribute in another way. Performances, workshops, tours and conversations extended the encounter beyond a conventional stand visit.
Virtual Studio Groups presented Dreams, a collective wall of small-format photographic images contributed by its international artist community. It offered one example of how a shared display can connect distinct individual practices.

Juxtapose provided insight into how artists organize, publish, collaborate, and create exhibition opportunities for each other. It encouraged a conversational visit, allowing time to understand the context of each initiative rather than treating every presentation as a sales booth.

In 2025 the organisation removed “art fair” from its public identity to reflect a broader role supporting artist-run initiatives. The old page address remains an archive reference, while this entry uses the edition’s updated name. Its emphasis was on exchange and self-organisation rather than presenting a commercial gallery fair.
Ask exhibitors how their spaces operate and what connects their programmes. Allow time for performances and small-group discussion as well as looking at installations. A satellite visit can provide a different perspective from the central hall.
Participation requirements differed between programme formats. This archive does not imply that every workshop or professional session had identical access conditions.
