At Gardens, looking at art also meant looking at its surroundings. Trees, lawns, and the skyline framed the outdoor works, while the pavilions offered a more focused encounter with painting, objects, and gallery programmes from Indonesia and elsewhere in Asia.
ISA Art Gallery presented eighteen artists under Methods of in/Tending, approaching artistic practice through care, cultivation, and intention. Its selection included Audya Amalia’s 501 Hz (2026), Sinta Tantra, Ida Lawrence, Arahmaiani, and Yuki Nakayama, among others. Srisasanti’s programme included Sunaryo’s Banteng Taurus, giving the outdoor route another distinctive sculptural presence.
The wider programme extended into performance and collaborative installations. Mulyana’s knitted Tentacles of Wealth reworked the octopus form associated with his Mogus practice, while Solagua (Sun and Water), developed with .this/PLAY and iForte Energi, connected installation art with solar energy.
