ArteBA 2025: A New Cartography of Latin American Art

An ART EXPO World Feature

Colleagues, researchers, connoisseurs, and visionaries of the art market! ART EXPO WORLD opens its dossier on one of the pivotal events of the year for the entire South-American continent and beyond. We are, of course, referring to the upcoming arteBA 2025 art fair, whose new curatorial vision promises not just an exhibition, but a multi-layered intellectual project.

A Grand Unveiling in Buenos Aires

The Fundación arteBa, that tireless engine of the Argentine scene, unveiled the details at a special preview event at ArtHaus. The scale of the endeavor is truly impressive. From August 27th to 31st, the Centro Costa Salguero in Buenos Aires will be transformed into the epicenter of a global art dialogue, beginning with exclusive vernissages for select guests on the 27th and 28th.

Cartography of a New Era: 67 Galleries and Beyond

This year, the fair will unfold a panorama of unprecedented breadth: over 400 artists from 16 countries under the auspices of 67 galleries. The true innovation, however, lies in its clear curatorial segmentation, allowing the audience to navigate this abundance with purpose.

· The Main Section: This segment features 44 heavyweight galleries, whose names alone are a guarantee of quality and market credibility. Here, the dialogue is conducted in the language of established values and mastery.
· The "Utopia" Section: This is where the nerve of the most current art pulsates. Functioning as a laboratory for artist-run spaces, non-profit initiatives, and hybrid platforms, its 19 participants prove that the boundaries of art remain fluid and that the most exciting processes are born at the intersections.

The International Dialogue Zone: A Platform for Critical Reflection

The main conceptual breakthrough of this edition is undoubtedly the International Dialogue Zone. This is not merely a collection of foreign projects, but a platform for rigorous reflection. Curated by Aimé Iglesias Lukin, Director of the highly authoritative Americas Society in New York, the zone will feature a lecture series titled "New Cartographies of Latin American Art." We anticipate uncompromising discussions on the place of the local scene within a global context, its contradictions, and its hidden potential. This is what distinguishes a world-class fair from a mere marketplace: the generation of critical thought.

The Infrastructure of the Art World: Tools for Ecosystem Development

ArteBA 2025 demonstrates the maturity of its ecosystem by offering refined tools for its development:

· Museum Acquisition Program: A direct channel for enriching national and international collections.
· The Collectors' Award: A significant gesture recognizing private initiative, to be presented for the third time by renowned patron Marion Eppinger.
· Primera Obra Santander: A revolutionary initiative from the main sponsor, Banco Santander. This financing program allows galleries and buyers to purchase works in installments using credit cards—a strategic move that could democratize the market and attract a new class of young collectors.

Join the Dialogue

We await everyone for whom art is not a decoration but a tool for cognition from August 29th to 31st at Centro Costa Salguero. This is one of those occasions that warrants planning a trip to Buenos Aires well in advance.
