Art on Paper 2025 took place at Pier 36 in downtown Manhattan from 4 to 7 September. Its eleventh edition explored paper across modern and contemporary practices, from drawings and prints to projects that expanded the material into space. The VIP preview on 4 September preceded public visiting on 5–7 September.
The fair’s medium-led approach made paper a starting point rather than a limitation. Gallery displays and projects brought different scales, surfaces, and working methods into proximity, encouraging visitors to look beyond the familiar idea of a framed sheet. Artistic director Nato Thompson shaped the edition’s special-project programme.
At booth G03, Uprise Art presented Gizem Vural, Lourenço Providência, and Lucía Rodríguez Pérez, alongside a special installation by Ruben Castillo. Art on Paper offered a focused way to compare the possibilities of a single material. Visitors could move between drawings, prints, and spatial projects, following the different decisions artists make about paper’s scale, texture, and relationship to an image.
The 2025 fair has concluded. The VIP preview took place on Thursday, September 4, from 5 to 9 pm. Public hours were from 11 am to 7 pm on Friday, September 5 and Saturday, September 6, and from 11 am to 6 pm on Sunday, September 7. Prices from later editions should not be considered as the 2025 tariff.
Pier 36 sits on the East River waterfront at 299 South Street. East Broadway on the F subway line provides a nearby connection, followed by a walk to the pier; check service changes before travelling. Use the full street address for taxis, as New York has several waterfront art venues. Lower East Side accommodation provides a convenient base for the neighbourhood and downtown galleries.
