Art Basel Qatar held its inaugural edition on 5–7 February 2026, following preview days on 3–4 February. The exhibition occupied M7, Doha Design District and associated locations in Msheireb Downtown Doha. Wael Shawky served as artistic director, developing the edition around the theme Becoming.

The official programme brought together 84 artist presentations through 87 galleries from 31 countries and territories. Its open exhibition format departed from the conventional sequence of enclosed fair booths, giving individual artistic positions a different spatial relationship. The Special Projects programme extended the encounter through site-specific works beyond the principal gallery presentations.

This format made the relationship between a commercial fair and a curatorial exhibition an important part of the inaugural edition. The artists, presentation structure and public projects belong to the 2026 record; they should not be treated as a confirmed programme for the following year.

The next edition, Art Basel Qatar 2027, opens publicly on 28–30 January under Wassan Al-Khudhairi’s artistic direction and the theme between / بين. Its visitor guide covers the new public sessions, previews and announced programme. Use that page for current admission enquiries rather than the completed 2026 timetable.
